Petersen is in California; it's not quite as bad as he paints it, but there is essentially no utility cycling, and a vast horde of would-be racers...

I can well believe that, considered individually, there's at least one person who needs each piece of advice. It's the ideal reader of Petersen's book—someone who needs every piece of advice—who surely doesn't exist. But the idea of taking the existence of this reader seriously, if only for a moment or two, seemed too intriguing to pass up.
